September 15th – October 28th

at

LORI BOOKSTEIN FINE ART

37 West 57 th Street, 3 rd Floor
New York, NY 10019

From September 15 th through October 28 th 2005, Lori Bookstein Fine Art will present Ken Kewley: Collages. This is the artist’s first solo show with the gallery and includes work completed by the artist from 1997 to the present.

This exhibit focuses on Ken Kewley’s diverse body of collage works. Exploring various thematic interests ranging from still life, to the human figure, to landscape, Kewley’s pieces seize upon the distinctive qualities of his paper medium. Intimate in scale and meticulously constructed, these works explore the playfulness of cubism that collage evokes, as well as serious consideration of structure, color and form. Several works reflect the artist’s deconstruction of various masterworks, including the paintings of Giorgione and Picasso, as well as a series on Renoir.

Ken Kewley was born in 1953 in Battle Creek Michigan. He received his BFA in Painting from the University of California at Santa Barbara, College of Creative Studies in 1976. He moved to New York City in 1980 and currently resides in Pennsylvania. His works have previously been exhibited in a number of solo and group shows and are included in numerous private collections including the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Exxon Corporation, and the Yosemite Valley Museum.

Ken Kewley: Collages will be on view from September 15th – October 28th. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. For additional information and/or visual materials, the gallery may be reached as follows:
