DEBORAH KAHN

RECENT WORK

Deborah Kahn will be exhibiting her recent work at the Bowery Gallery, 530 West 25th Street, NYC, from March 28 through April 22. The work will include paintings completed during the year of her 2004/2005 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship.

Kahn’s paintings are physically dense works that are labored over for weeks and months at a time. Through an investigation of form, she structures space and weaves color to create a powerful and emotive visual experience. The imagery suggests distorted human and animal figures entangled in an ambiguous space.

Deborah Kahn lives in Maryland and teaches at the American University in Washington DC. This coming year, she will also be exhibiting her work at the Toyota Municipal Art Museum in Nagoya, Japan and at the LesYeux du Monde Gallery in Charlottesville, Virginia.
